David Fowler had a speedy recovery from his total hip replacement surgery, thanks to therapy at Life Care Center of Andover, Kansas.
Fowler came to the skilled nursing and rehabilitation center on Aug. 5, 2016, needing help regaining his independence before he could return home safely. When he got there, he needed a walker to get around and had to have someone walk beside him to steady him. He also needed extensive assistance with grooming and bathing tasks.
Physical and occupational therapists worked with Fowler five days a week to increase his strength, range of motion, balance and activity tolerance.
“The therapy staff has been helpful and honest,” Fowler shared. “I enjoyed working with Todd [Grisier, occupational therapist] and Steve [Hendricks, physical therapist assistant], always looking forward to the day’s challenge.”
On Aug. 18, Fowler returned home to his family. He was able to walk with a walker and single-point cane for short distances and was independent in all his self-care tasks.
